Come Back To Life As A Tree
Forget Coffins – Organic Burial Pods Will Turn Your Loved Ones Into Trees
How would you or your loved one like to pass away and come back as a tree? I know it’s probably not a question most of want to think about, at the same time it’s a relevant question that will need to be answered at some point. The Capsula Mundi project, the brainchild of designers Anna Citelli and Raoul Bretzel have done just that. Citelli and Bretzel have created an organic, biodegradable burial capsule, capable of turning a deceased body into nutrients for a tree to grow. That’s right, regardless of one’s faith, we are all gonna die, why not become one with nature and give your remains to the life of a tree. I don’t care what anyone says, this idea sure as hell beats being parked in a box for the rest of your days or even worst, burnt until your bones turn to ash.
The whole idea of the burial pod concept is to change the way we think about death. After encapsulation, the pod is buried and a seed or a tree is planted directly above the capsule. The project’s goal is to create memorial parks full of trees as opposed to cemeteries full of tombstones. As Italian law forbids such burials, The Capsula Mundi project is still just a concept. Hopefully, with the right support and a bit of logical convincing, this project can become a reality. Think about this, instead of you or your loved one put in a wooden box, covered in dirt with a stone on top, isn’t it more comforting to know descendants could visit our tree while care for it in the shade.
