RIP To A True Legend - Albert "Prodigy" Johnson
Check out this eerie interview with Mobb Deep’s Prodigy on Viceland’s The Therapist. Before his death from the disease sickle cell anemia, Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh sat down with Albert “Prodigy” Johnson to discuss living with such a painful disease and vivid encounters with supernatural beings. Strangely enough, Prodigy appears full of life with a very positive outlook on what life has in store for him, his death would be announced a short time later in June 2017.
As a long time supporter and student of hip hop, I can comfortably say that Prodigy is definitely one of the top 20 MC’s of all time if had to tell it. Prodigy’s wordplay and ability to recite realistic tales over heartfelt tunes has definitely added to the span of Hip Hop over the last 20 years or so. It’s never a good thing when you lose a legend, one thing for sure, Albert “Prodigy” Johnson has left a solid legacy and shit load of beats, bars & rhymes for us to catch up. Prodigy was way ahead of his time and left is the way to soon. Rest In Peace Prodigy.
