Feel Alive With Ravyn Lenae
Ravyn Lenae at sixteen is already turning heads and giving eargasms with her soulful fresh voice. The singer/songwriter from Chicago made me take a second listen and look with this one. “Alive” just feels good for several reasons. First, the bouncy hypnotic track produced by Monte Booker is fire. Second, as it should, the young songstress voice puts you in a trance-like state. Ravyn’s mature tones over electronic R&B soul selections is the perfect mixture of love stories and edgy production. I can’t say exactly who her influences are but Ravyn Lenae is definitely from the school of Florence Welch, Amy Winehouse and my absolute favorite, Erykah Badu. At a time when Chi-town is mostly affiliated with drill music, Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Reese and G Herbo, Ravyn is in a position to demand recognition for R&B. I would consider the music community lucky to have such wonderful young talent in the sweet spot of her career.
