It Chapter One
It: Chapter One In my humble opinion was an enjoyable horror ride. Directed by Andy Muschietti it covers all grounds and definitely leaves you wanting more. The film is based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King and follows an earlier adaptation in the 90’s that was turned into a miniseries of the same name. I thought the story was a bit long winded at times and could have gotten to the point a bit quicker but there is more than enough action with incredible cinematography and special effects to make up for that. I can also say that the director Andy Muschietti keeps the movie extremely true to the fabric of the original King novel.
It tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, haunted by a horrifying dancing clown that comes to town every 27 years. Forced to face their fears in the process several characters are eventually able to overcome their own personal demons. Surprisingly for an R rated horror, the film has broken several records since its release on September 8, 2017, grossing just under 200 million world wide as of this post.
