Jay z Gives His Point Of View
If you have been following the stunning career of artist, businessman & mogul Jay-Z then you should know, he never grants interviews. If he does they are usually very modest and no longer than 10-15 minutes of surface questions followed by generic answers. He recently broke his silence on everything from the elevator incident with Solange to Kanye’s rants and even his latest album 4:44 when he sat down with music journalist Elliot Wilson on his Rap Radar podcast. To be totally transparent I am not a fan of 4:44, why some folks are running around claiming this is Jay-Z’s best album gives you an idea of how much influence the Brooklyn native really has. We can get into my feeling about 4:44 in another post at another time, but the interview is not bad. I can appreciate the fact that Jay-Z did not seem to shy away from of the questions he was asked, he answered pretty directly and honestly. Jay appears to have given Wilson full range to ask whatever questions he needed to ask in order to carry out his job as a journalist. A clear example of Jay-Z’s directness would be when he was asked about the current issues between him and Kanye, Jay replied, “he’s my little brother” but “he crossed the line bringing my family into it”, see the clip here. In the little over an hour interview, Jay also goes into the marketing & recording process of 4:44, explaining what role he wants it to play in the history of hip-hop once the album begins to age. Jay clears up many things that have been the topic of discussion since the album’s release on June 30th, 2017.
