The Mr. Porter Gucci Collection
I wanted to personally give my readers a peek at the new Gucci capsule collection exclusively designed for MR PORTER. I can almost guarantee after perusing the collection I am sure you have already added a few pieces to your wish list. The collection is one that has to grow on you but it also shows how designer Alessandro Michelle likes to push the boundaries of creativity. Gucci, the Italian powerhouse, has always been known for sharp, slim-fitting tailored clothing, however, there is a noticeable difference in the embellishments associated with this collection. The capsule collection reminds me of a sophisticated preppy look, red and green trimmed lapels, velvet blazers, playing up that authentic varsity feel. Although a bit bold and outspoken for the typical work/office setting the look is extremely fun and creative giving those that dare to be different plenty of stylish options.
Hands down, one of the dopest pieces in the line up is the cube-print track top, laced with the squared off G logo. You can easily rock the cubed print track jacket with a crisp pair of denim and Gucci’s chenille-patched loafers. If you don’t want to crush with the track jacket, you can just throw on the embroidered Gucci denim jeans with a plain white tee and still be a fashion statement any day of the week.
In closing, I must say I do appreciate the direction Alessandro Michelle is taking the Gucci brand. The brand seems to have found there footing again after years of boring repeat designs striving to make a substantial dent in the high-end market. If any of the decisions over at Gucci were up to me, I would like to see them expand on the MR. PORTER collection.
