Zaria Forman creates super realistic pastel paintings of Antarctica’s icebergs. As a quickly shrinking interesting piece of nature, Zaria captures the true size and beauty of these sculptures made of ice. During a 4-week art residency, she had the opportunity to spend some valuable time next to the ice towers to understand the perspective needed to create her realistic drawings.
Zaria Forman’s attempt to make the world aware of its greatest global challenge, climate change, through art is visually satisfying. Forman has a solo exhibition of her work titled Antarctica opening at Winston Wächter gallery in Seattle on September 9 and running through November 4, 2017. You can watch a time-lapse of Forman completing her drawing Whale Bay, Antarctica no.4.
